Love good food and company?  Our Winers & Diners group is a friendly way to enjoy relaxed lunches/dinners together, discover great local places to eat, and catch up with fellow members in a warm, social setting.

We meet regularly and keep things fresh by mixing tried‑and‑trusted favourites with new venues - from welcoming village pubs to special set‑menu treats a little further afield.  New restaurants often tempt different members to come along, so it’s a lovely low‑pressure way to try somewhere you might not otherwise visit.

Everyone is welcome - whether you’re a regular or thinking of joining for the first time.

Looking for a friendly way to read more and discover books you might not choose on your own?  Our WI Reading Group is a welcoming small group where we share a book, enjoy a lively chat, and often come away with fresh perspectives on other lives and cultures.  

We read a real mix of genres (from contemporary fiction to classics and the occasional spy story), and we don’t always agree - which is half the fun.  With Swindon’s library reading‑group service, we’re looking forward to more shared reads and thoughtful discussion.

We keep the group to a maximum of 10 and if interest grows, we can start a second group or a waiting list.

Love poems - or just fancy a cosy, uplifting afternoon out?  Our Poetry Group meets on the first Thursday afternoon of each month at a member’s home (or in the garden when the sun’s out) to read and enjoy poems around a theme chosen the month before.  It’s informal, friendly and light-hearted, with plenty of chat, tea and cake and the occasional Pam Ayres poem for a good laugh.

Come along and try a session - a lovely way to unwind, meet new friends and enjoy a little poetic inspiration.

Love a good word game?  Our friendly Scrabble group meets on the first Monday of each month for a few lively games, plenty of laughs, and the usual bit of good-natured banter.  There’s often the odd interesting fact thrown in too and after all that brain exercise, we round things off with tea, cake and a good chat.

The Quiz Group meets every 3–6 weeks for a fun and sociable evening, teaming up for the Prince of Wales quiz night.  It’s a relaxed and friendly opportunity to put your brains to the test, enjoy a bit of healthy competition, and share plenty of laughs along the way.

Our Craft Group offers a relaxed and flexible space for members who enjoy getting creative together.  Rather than a fixed schedule, the group meets informally whenever members would like to come together to craft, providing plenty of opportunity for collaboration, sharing ideas, and enjoying each other’s company.

Members enjoy a wide range of creative activities in a supportive and friendly environment, suitable for all skill levels - from beginners looking to learn to experienced crafters keen to share their expertise.

As well as crafting together, many members also take part in other local crafting communities, including sewing, knitting, and crochet groups.  This helps to build connections beyond the group, share inspiration, and bring new ideas back to our sessions.

Whether you’re looking to develop your skills, start a new hobby, or simply enjoy crafting in good company, the Craft Group is a welcoming and enjoyable way to get involved.

Founded in 2013, the Women’s Institute Clippers Group helps keep Shrivenham’s Public Rights of Way open, safe and enjoyable for everyone.  From April to October, our volunteers head out to cut back overgrowth, clear footpaths, pick up litter and report any issues we can’t resolve ourselves.

Over the past year, our friendly team of Parish Footpath Wardens and helpers has carried out 27 working parties, tackling everything from nettles and brambles, to fallen branches.

If you enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind a bit of the rougher side of gardening, we’d love to hear from you.  New volunteers are always welcome.
